Reality Check

by, Suzanne Coleman, MD

Women and girls are the biggest group of oppressed and abused people in the US and around the world, yet no one talks about it. Every day three women are murdered in the US and no one cares about it. There are no marches, no news reports. Silence. That needs to end.  Speak up.  Speak out.  Don’t be silenced.

Is Rahm a sociopath?

What do you guys think about Rahm Emanuel, the mayor of Chicago, a public servant, telling his motorcade to repeatedly run thru red lights as if the law doesn’t apply to him?  Is he a sociopath?  Let’s think about that.

According to Chicago’s ABC news and the “Chicago Tribune,” as of April 15, 2015 Emanuel’s drivers were found to have run red lights a total of 29 times.  Wow.  Twenty-nine times.

When Emanuel was caught the first time, his attitude was like “So what?  We’ll pay the tickets.”  Um, dude, that isn’t the point.

And then, he did it over, and over again.

This behavior shows no respect for the law, nor for other people who could be injured by the running of the red lights.  This is the kind of behavior you see in a sociopath.  In their delusional minds they believe that the laws and the rules of society just don’t apply to them.  They also believe that they can do whatever they want and get away with it.  And, they often do.  They also have no empathy for other people.  They literally don’t have the ability to care.

This red-light-running behavior is also narcissistic.  In these cases, the person who runs the red light is saying “It’s all about ME, I‘m in a hurry, I shouldn’t have to wait.  I‘m SO very special!  I‘m more important than EVERYONE else.”  Notice the use of a lot of the word “I”…

If these behaviors alone weren’t bad enough, which they are, you need to figure in the fact that Emanuel has repeatedly forcefully said to the public that the red light cameras are there “To make the city safer,” “To stop people from running red lights; it’s so dangerous.”  I mean, seriously.  Can you say HYPOCRITE?  I can.

In addition to the above behaviors, Emanuel has been outright dismissive and abusive to other people on several televised interviews.  These are also behaviors you will see in a sociopath.

I will bet that most of you didn’t know that approximately one out of every 75 men is a sociopath, and one out of every 300 women.  While it’s currently legal for psychopaths and sociopaths to be mayors, governors, senators, representatives and even presidents in this country, I think that it is in our people’s best interest to pass laws to prevent this from happening.  We need all political candidates to be screened to make sure that they are not dangerous or incapable psychopaths or sociopaths before they are allowed to take office, and those that are already in office must be screened as well.

A sociopath is by definition a person who behaves in a way which is against the best interests of society.  No normal person would want someone like that running their government.  No one.  The only people who would benefit from that are other psychopaths and sociopaths.  [Which is what we often see in today’s government…]

Many people are calling for the removal of Rahm Emanuel as the mayor of Chicago, maybe this is the time for that to happen.  If so, there needs to be a qualified and sane candidate to replace him.  Can we find one?

What happened to the EMPIRE?!

Suzanne Coleman

Hey guys, just a note to say that no, “Empire” was not on last night!  You can breathe easy now, you did not miss one thing!  They are playing the world series baseball tournament on FOX so it bumped it.  If the series goes past 7 games it might bump it next week from what I heard (might be wrong).  So hang in there and catch up online on fox.com if there’s anything you missed or want to see again!  Or, read some of my blogs from last season.  🙂  Take care all.

Joe the Psycho?

The Bachelor Gossip, framed

by,

Suzanne Coleman, MD

We all gasped in horror as we listened to the things that Joe Bailey said on “Bachelor in Paradise” this past season, didn’t we?!  What a psycho…

Watching the new talk segment that followed the show, I heard one of the guests call Joe a sociopath.  What do you think, is that what’s wrong with him?

If you have been following my “Bachelor” blog, you know that I wrote a piece last season about Carly, yes the same Carly who was just on “Paradise,” asking if SHE was a sociopath.  If you haven’t read it, you should.  It covers all of the basics on how to tell if someone is a sociopath.  Important stuff!

While she may have seemed heartless on “The Bachelor,” on “Paradise,” Carly seemed pretty normal, though I do need to add that I only watched about half of the show.  Seeing her again in a different setting and under different circumstances, it was clear that her edited comments on “The Bachelor” made her seem like a terrible person.  Also, “The Bachelor” didn’t show enough of Britt’s bad behaviors to explain WHY Carly was so annoyed by her, and this helped contribute to our negative impression of Carly.  I think that now that most of us have learned more about Britt, we can understand Carly’s reactions to her much better.

So, back to Joe.  Is he really a cold, heartless bastard?  Or is it just another case of editing-gone-wild?  That, I couldn’t tell you.  But what we saw of him on the show sure does make it seem like he has no compassion for other human beings, doesn’t it?

That’s basically what defines a sociopath, a person who doesn’t have the capacity to care about others.  It is also someone who believes that the laws and rules of society don’t apply to them.  They do whatever they want and think that they will get away with it.  They don’t care about how their actions, or inactions, affect others.

This psychiatric disorder affects an estimated 1% of the human population, but it’s much more common in males than in females.  Here are the numbers as estimated by the US government:

One out of 75 men is a sociopath.

One out of 300 women is a sociopath.

It is really quite a common disorder.  Once you start to understand this you will realize how many sociopaths you have known.  They may be your boss, your co-worker, an ex, a family member, a neighbor… the list goes on.

So now that you know all of this, what can you do to protect yourself?  Stay very far away.

This psychiatric disorder is essentially untreatable and incurable.  Sociopaths are harmful towards others.  Someone doesn’t have to be a mass-murderer to be a sociopath, and I think that’s something that most of us used to think.  A sociopath can be that person who screws over other people at work, or in a relationship.  They have no empathy.  They hurt other people, and sometimes they think it’s funny to do so.  “Incurable” means that no matter how much time one spends trying to help someone like this, it is almost impossible to change them.  It would be a waste of time and energy, and will usually end up harming the person trying to help.

I hope that this article helped to bring this disorder to light.  Please share with your friends and family so that they don’t become the next victim of a sociopath, because they are EVERYWHERE.

Apple Stock Dives, but do you know Why?

by,

Suzanne Coleman

Apple stock (AAPL) is down 3.66% as I write this story.  Not good.  Is this because Apple sold a record number of its new iPhone model this past weekend?  No, that’s not it.  Is it because Apple is coming out with a free software upgrade for its computer users?  No, I doubt it.  But, I think I know what it is.

I own Apple stock (let’s question why another time…) and I just received a margin call on this equity.  E-Trade raised its capital requirements SIGNIFICANTLY and the call is due on Thursday.  Previously requirements were only 30% equity, they raised it to 45%.

As the stock fell yesterday, people are likely selling to cover their margin requirements today.  I could call around and see if other brokers have also raised their requirements, but since this is an unpaid gig, you’ll just have to include that as a likely possibility based on the stock’s recently unstable and unpredictable performance, with no underlying logic.  I wouldn’t throw my money at it without securing it either, at this point.  The company is good, but it could be better in many aspects, but that’s America today.  It’s one of the best though and I repeat myself yet again, there’s no logical reason for this drop in price.

In fact, today another analyst has started coverage with a 12-month price expectation at $150.  The average is now an expected $145.77 per Yahoo! charts.  With a PE of 12.51, that’s pretty good.  Exclude all the lofty dreams of google glass (oh wait, different company…), a magical Apple iCar, Apple streaming TV service, etc., this company still outperforms most businesses today.

Apple To Buy Netflix?

I think the best next move is for Apple to buy Netflix.  Why not?  What do you think?  Maybe we’ll find out more tomorrow…

Apple Beat Expectations for iPhone

By,

Suzanne Coleman, MD

Ok, so let’s review this one more time.  I am tired of the manipulations and lies.  In the most recently-ended quarter Apple BEAT expectations for the iPhone sales.  Many bloggers/”journalists” are saying that they missed, and that everyone should bail out of Apple (wow, great analysis, based on literally, nothing).  No, they beat.  No one even mentions that their “miss” is actually based on hyper-inflated dream-idealogy numbers, not analysts’ consensus expectations.

So there you have it folks, something I like to call “the facts.”  Beware of what you read on other blogs, or even “news” outlets.  There are many people/organizations out there who have some kind of issues with Apple doing well, and are doing whatever they can to destroy it.  In medicine, we call those people psychopaths.

By the way, if you are investing based on what people are writing about stocks, you need to do some more homework, and get your information from several sources.  That way it will be closer to fair and balanced information, which is always the best for you and your portfolio.

“… And Carry a Big Stick”

by,

Suzanne Coleman

Well good, Tim Cook finally acted.  As the CEO of a massive company, a big part of your job is managing your reputation.  Apple has historically done that quite well, especially with often overly-aggressive legal actions.  But in the last few months, they have sat passively by while their company has been defamed by “journalist” after “journalist.”  Manipulating public opinion by manipulating reports is sleazy, but since we as a society have lost most of our journalistic quality over the last few years, companies and individuals need to step up and act when necessary.

And let’s define necessary as when your investors are being destroyed due to false statements of fact meant to deliberately manipulate public opinion and therefore your stock price.  Yeah, let’s start with that.

I was going to call investor relations today (yes I own Apple stock, which you probably know by now) and have a conversation with them about this issue.  A nice class-action lawsuit brought by investors against reporters who spread falsehoods about Apple just might be what is needed to revive journalistic integrity.

I know, most of you have probably never heard of that…

Speechless

by,

Suzanne Coleman

Wow, Apple.  Wow everything.  What is going on here people?!  This stock market trading is insane.

First off, when you trade, you trade in pennies, not dollars, OK?  Geez, it’s like these people have no idea what they’re doing…

Yeah, let’s start with that.  I’m getting to be a broken record here, but, maybe before you buy or sell a stock you might want to GET A CLUE?  Since I own Apple, I’ll be focusing on that as a cornerstone for this conversation.

A good company’s stock doesn’t lose 30-40% of its value in a couple of weeks.  This isn’t Netflix or Amazon, the two stocks that continue to be super over-valued compared to their actual earnings, this is Apple, a proven stock with quickly growing earnings and a PE that is actually too LOW for its pre-drop price.

Now let’s play on people’s “reason” behind the recent decline, worries about the loss of income from sales in China.  Let’s say China literally falls off of the face of the earth, maybe the earth’s crust crumbles and the surface detaches and it just simply floats out to space.  Now, who knows, maybe they have cell service out there, I don’t know, but let’s just say, just for fun, that they don’t.  So if this happens, does Apple whither and die due to the loss of this entire market?  What do you think?

Yeah, you’re right, the answer is NO.

Would its growth suffer?  Yes, yes it would, but I must say, this is a ridiculous scenario because as far as I know, and yes I have personally checked this myself this morning, the earth’s crust under China is in fact, securely adhered to the globe.  So traders, you really don’t need to worry about China disappearing completely as a market today or any day in the next millennium or so.

So now, back to what most of us perceive to be reality.

China is in the predicted retraction phase, our world’s economies are almost all interconnected now, and those of you who didn’t realize this after our economy pulled back, well, I guess you’ll believe me now?  🙂  It’s all physics, the “ripple effect” created by the waves that we made earlier has reached China.  Recent published reports stated that their economy might only grow like 5-7% this year.  Wow, that is “terrible!”  Of course, it can get worse, they might actually stop growing.  Or even go into a recession like we recently did…  But they’re not there yet.  Their growth is decelerating (and has been for maybe 2-3 years).  During this period of time Apple has been consistently seeing INCREASED sales and profits coming from China.  So, maybe a little perspective will help stabilize this market?  I hope you’re paying attention people…  Maybe I need to be more blunt?  Apple will not collapse and die because of a contraction in China’s economy.  Yes, it’s possible they might not grow as quickly as they have been, but that’s expected in any new market, right?  Yes, right.

A little more perspective.  Apple continues to be in an expansion phase due to the overseas markets’ late adoption of its extremely popular cell phone products, and it continues to innovate, providing consumers products that they can’t live without.  This stock was fairly valued before this series of drops.  And now with a PE of 11- something, this high-growth stock which is backed by billions in cash, is a great bargain.  People who bought in today will be very happy they did, and hopefully very soon.

Compare this to Netflix, with a PE of around 200 recently (i.e., the price is way too high), which has had similar growth and management success in the last 2 years or so.  Their price is still flying high; I would have expected their price to drop way more than Apple, but logic doesn’t seem to be the reigning force in the market this year.

Apple deserves more stability than this people, let’s start trading with some respect.  12-month estimates average 146.88.  So that’s about 40% upside from the current price of $104.50.  Yes, people, that is VERY good.  Buy.

Bye Bye Nick! :(

The Bachelorette Gossip, capitals regular font and verdana for %22gossip%22

by,

Suzanne Coleman

I know some of you might be happy to see Nick go, but as a member of Team Nick, I have to say, “BOO!”…  But I’ll get over it 🙂

In the end Kaitlyn picked Shawn, I guess all of the spoilers were right.  I have to say, people online saying that she picks Shawn in the end for the last how many months really made it a lot less fun to watch for me.  I wish people could keep these things to themselves, out of respect for other viewers at the very least.

These last few Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons just haven’t been that good.  I know I’m not the only one who feels that way.  I hope they can bring back some of the reality to this reality TV show.  It’s the concept of true love that brings us in and keeps us watching, it’s like Disney magic.  If it seems fake, you lose us.

On tonight’s “After the Final Rose, Shawn even said “Why don’t we just focus on the love story, isn’t that what “The Bachelorette” is all about?”  You can see that he agrees with me and many of you as well.

Not only is the show veering away from being about real love, the show is getting so cheap, I mean, seriously, what is up with the proposal now being in the dark out in the back by the pool?  LOL!  Sad yet hilarious at the same time.  I mean, Kaitlyn was standing steps away from where that guy got really drunk and fell down during the first episode!  What a sweet lifelong memory…

And what did you all think of the part when Kaitlyn and Shawn got engaged (wait, did they really get engaged?)?  It sounded like Kaitlyn was rehearsing a script when she was telling Shawn how much she loved him.  It was a little stale to me.  The whole thing just didn’t feel REAL at all.

I found this episode anti-climactic, which is literally the opposite of what it’s supposed to be.  Nothing really happened except for Nick getting upset that Andi, oops, I mean Kaitlyn jerked him around.  Why did she let Nick get through his whole super personal proposal speech before she stopped him?  That was a bad move.  Very inconsiderate, and he told her so on the final rose.  It looks like those two won’t be friends any time soon…  I guess with that kind of intense passion it’d be really hard anyways.

And what was up with Chris H. interrupting all of the time on the final rose?  That got annoying.  He seemed to have it in for Nick, I don’t know why.  But Nick handled himself well I thought, it must have been hard to go through all of that again.  Same thing with Shawn, Chris H. was really trying to re-open old wounds it seemed, instead of working with them to move on with their lives and relationships.  Weird new angle that I personally didn’t like.

Final words after the final rose?  Ugh, and I hope the show does better next time.  It’s getting kind of hard to watch.  But if you want ever-increasingly-cheesy crap, Sunday is the beginning of “The Bachelor in Paradise!”  It’s really a rather trashy version of a bunch of old people (relatively) acting like they’re at a frat party in college.  I’ll probably watch, there’s really not much else on until fall…

I do want to wish Kaitlyn and Shawn best wishes.  Maybe the rumors that they have already broken up are true, who knows, but either way I hope that they enjoy their time together, life is short, have fun.
